Preparing for Initial App Review with Facebook Login

Use this checklist to prepare to submit your app for initial review:

App Development

1. Confirm → App Development
2. 1. Development is complete
   • Post-submission changes may trigger re-review
   2. App represents the actual user experience
   3. App is in Development Mode OR is a Business app type

Features and Permissions

1. List → Features & permissions you are requesting
2. 1. Outline why your app needs them to function
   • Allowable use cases: Permissions Resource
   • Review Meta's Developer Document on Requesting & Revoking Permissions
   • If you cannot map a permission/feature to a use case, remove it from the list; do not include any permissions you don't immediately need
   2. Outline how you will capture why you need these permissions and features in a Screen Recording
   • Guidelines: Screen Recording

Text Plan

1. Create → Start with the use cases provided in Meta's Testing resource
   

   Make sure to create user stories that capture the following:

2. 1. Accessing your app, either publicly or with instructions and/or test user credentials you have provided
   2. Finding your Privacy Policy
   3. Finding Facebook Login on your app
   4. Successfully logging into your app with FB Login
   5. Testing any components of the app that require the features and/or permissions you are requesting

App Setting and Data

1. Confirm → All of the information provided about your app is complete and correct
   

   From Settings > Basic tab:

2. 1. Compliant app icon is uploaded (1024x1024)
   2. No App asset (name, icon, etc.) includes any Facebook trademarks or logos
   3. Privacy Policy URL is present
   4. App Purpose is set as yourself or your own business if your app is only available to people who have a role on your app, or a role in a Business that has claimed your app or Clients
   5. App category accurately describes your app
   6. Primary contact is set to a primary email address where App Review notifications should be sent

Text App

1. Execute → Test Plan
2. 1. Thoroughly test all user stories you created
   2. Resolve any bugs identified prior to submitting

Screen Recording

1. Create → Screen recordings you outlined previously
2. 1. Review the General Tips provided on Screen Recordings for production, including (but not limited to):
   • Use your mouse to interact so the Reviewer can replicate
   • Omit audio
   • Annotate when possible
   • Zoom in when necessary
   2. Show complete Login flow
   3. For each permission and feature:
   • Capture the complete authorization flow
   • Show what your app does with that data (why it's necessary)

Submit for Review

1. Submit → Using the information you have compiled here, follow the steps outlined in the Submitting for Review guide
2. 1. Review Meta's Examples for App Review
   2. Select permissions and features
   3. Complete app verification
   4. Complete usage descriptions
   5. Review the Before You Submit resource
   6. Submit for review using the 5 steps of submitting for app review

Handling a Rejection

1. If your submission was rejected →
2. 1. Review the Rejection Guide resource
   2. Go to the Developer Support Page and the Facebook Developer Community group for support from your fellow developers
